Black Bear Hunting is our life at Foggy Mountain Guide Service. It is not a seasonal sideline for us. It has been our livelihood for over thirty years. Each year we can’t wait until the seasons open.

Maine Bear Hunting Seasons – 2024

  • Maine Black Bear Hunts from Stands:
    • Vast Highlands, Moosehead & Katahdin Region –
      • Hunt Monday, August 26th (Arrive on August 25th) thru August 30th (Depart on Saturday, August 31st);
      • Hunt Monday, September 2nd (Arrive on September 1st) thru September 6th (Depart on Saturday, September 7th).
    • West Branch Region –
      • Hunt Monday, September 9th (Arrive on the 8th) thru September 13th (Depart on Saturday, September 14th);
      • Hunt Monday, September 16th (Arrive on the 15th) thru September 20th (Depart on Saturday, September 21st).
  • Maine Bear Hunts with Hounds:
    • Fully Guided Hound Hunts
      • Hunt Monday, September 23rd (Arrive on September 22nd) thru September 27th (Depart on Saturday, September 28th);
      • Hunt Monday, September 30th (Arrive on September 29th) thru October 4th (Depart on Saturday, October 5th);
      • Hunt Monday, October 7th (Arrive on October 6th) thru October 11th (Depart on Saturday, October 12th);

Maine Coyote Hunting Season – 2023-2024

  • Guided Maine Coyote Hunts:
    Daylight hunts: December 1, 2023 – April 30, 2024
    Night hunts: December 16, 2023 – April 30, 2024

Maine Snowshoe Hare (Rabbit) Hunting Season – 2023-2024

Maine Spring Turkey Hunting Season – 2024

  • Guided Maine Turkey Hunts:

    Season is generally the four weeks of May…for 2024:
    – Hunt April 29th to May 3rd, or
    – Hunt May 6th to May 10th, or
    – Hunt May 13th to May 17th, or
    – Hunt May 20th to May 24th, or
    – Hunt May 27th to May 31st

Maine Moose Hunting Season – 2024

  • Guided Maine Moose Hunts:

    By permit drawing only (see below for zone selection).
    Area and Season depends on permit – Typically open in October – 1 or 2 Weeks

Maine Moose Hunting Zones

Foggy Mountain Guide Service utilizes five Wildlife Management Districts. When applying for a moose permit it is absolutely critical to use the following priority list. While Foggy Mountain currently uses only the first two districts, you must list 10 districts for your application to be valid. Please contact us if you have any questions.
